Thesis: April 16th Memorial

Architecture is the bridge between the spiritual and the material.

My first year at Virginia Tech 32 of my peers died in a mass shooting. My last year at Virginia Tech I completed an academic thesis, designing a memorial to the people who died in the massacre. I explored how architecture could help my school and community by using the tools I had been learning from my school and my community. I posited that a physical space can be made sacred, without any association with faith or religion, through architectural form that conveys the qualities of dreams, memories and fantasy.
